I voted. End of story.
Nov 5th, 2008 by Tim
I will freely admit that I’m not the most well versed when it comes to politics, I’ll save that for my friend Aaron. I did however, take advantage of my civil liberty to vote yesterday.
I woke up early, and decided to go for a jog, and figured I’d take a jog to the polling location I’m assigned to. Showing up a little early, I was number two in line to vote, and aside from some random flannel wearing kid sporting a History Channel press ID, nothing eventful happened, unless you count the location running out of pens, 3 minutes into the process…
I cast my vote and head home. That’s all there was to it. It’ not a secret who I voted for, and while I may catch flack for my candidate of choice because I was ill-informed for this reason or that, I’ll simply say I made choices based on information I was aware of before all of the mud-slinging started. Once that happened, I pretty much tuned out. I need to hear about the issues, how they’ll be addressed, and what will happen to my paycheck. I DON’T need to hear some old fart uttering obscenities under his breath, or the religious/ethnical concerns expressed about the other candidate. I don’t really care where you came from, who you are, or what you do, so long as you do the best damn job for this country you can, and not worry about taking care of your buddies in Big Oil for example. Anyways, while I don’t agree with all of the ideals of our new President, I feel he will be a much needed change, and the issues that are widely opposed by the masses, will not make it thru, such as the gun control stance as one example.
Sure, I’m guessing someone will make some comment telling me I’m wrong or something, but ya know, it’s a public blog, I own this website, and if someone has a difference of opinion great, if they are that turned off by what I say, they don’t have to read it, or visit again, I love the freedom of speech, to a point, but that’s a topic for another day when I really feel vindictive.
I’ll for now, sit back and wait to see what happens in the Franken/Coleman race, and hope we end up with a W for the D.
