Cushman 2.5 – Camera Trailer

I was going to be working on v3.0 of the Cushman this summer for the upcoming IH Expo at Rollag this upcoming Labor Day weekend, however a few weeks back, two of the battery cables in the cart decided to fail, short, and arc to a point of melting the lead posts on 2 batteries, enough to melt one post into the battery innards and start a nice little fire.  I would advise against roasting...

January Recap

So, I start the year off thinking I'm going to make a weekly post about whatever, and that just doesn't happen because well, I'm just not that interesting! [usually]  So, I'm going to shoot for a monthly recap, which might be a little more easy to manage.   To start off 2012 was pretty good.  We rang in the new year with some good friends from Rollag.  I also bought into a a cash pool for a...

Out with the old, in with the new

2011 has been laid to rest, and 2012 has begun. Overall, 2011 had some ups and downs, but in the end I was still on the right side of the semi-frozen Minnesota turf when the ball dropped last night. Here's a recap from 2011 for anyone that gives a rats hind end.. January - February: It was pretty dang cold, so we didn't do all that much.  I worked out, edited some videos and worked on some websites.. March:...

[caption id="attachment_728" align="aligncenter" width="448" caption="Spark Show - Photo by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] So, the last few weeks have been pretty fun, and the next few weeks are shaping up to be pretty fun as well. Here's a little recap of what's been, and what will be! Running: Well, I've given up on the whole trying to run/ride after work at night.  There are just too many things to do.  So, I've opted to get my ass out...

What is this Rollag thing

[caption id="attachment_623" align="aligncenter" width="447" caption="Photo by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] If anyone has followed me on Facebook, Twitter, read the most boring crap in the Internet, (otherwise known as this blog) or talked to me in person, you would have picked up some mention of the Rollag thing I attend every year and am overly obsessed with. What Is It? Rollag is the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. It was started back in 1954 and has been going on...

Cushman 2.1 Almost complete

Anyone who's been in contact with me in the last 6 months has heard me talk about this Cushman 2.x project for WMSTR.. Well, after many, many hours, well over 100 I'm sure, and probably close to 200, it's set to go. With an upgraded pan/tilt head from the first revision, actuators replacing the window motors for the platter movements, and updated wiring, it's just about ready to go for the 2010 show. Below...

Head for the Hill

[caption id="attachment_561" align="alignnone" width="448" caption="Photo by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] It's that time again, a little earlier than normal to head up to Rollag. Due to some warmer weather, and an Expo meeting that is at the Hill this weekend, it seems like a great opportunity to open up the camper, get some work done, and hang out with some of the Rollag crew. So we may have limited access to power and water, oh well.. Camper has...

Winter Project ~ RC Jib Crane

Now that I've finished editing the 2009 DVD for WMSTR, I have started a new project to aide in my capacity as 'that guy with the camera' for the show next year. That is to build a jib crane for filming more great footage at Rollag. Mounted on top of the Cushman, it will have a collapsable 10' boom to allow for a wider variety of camera angles. Having had the use...
