Riding, Oklahoma and other fun things

[caption id="attachment_728" align="aligncenter" width="448" caption="Spark Show - Photo by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] So, the last few weeks have been pretty fun, and the next few weeks are shaping up to be pretty fun as well. Here's a little recap of what's been, and what will be! Running: Well, I've given up on the whole trying to run/ride after work at night.  There are just too many things to do.  So, I've opted to get my ass out...

Fall Weight Loss Plan

OK, yes, I'm still on the 'Fatty needs to lose weight' warpath. I did a decent job this spring of losing a few percent of my BMI, a few pounds and adding some muscle in and overall getting in better shape with eating better and drinking less. Then summer came.. The start of the steam show season, being busy and having too many projects on deck that caused me to put my fitness aside. ...

Summer Wrap Up

It seems like just last week I was making the first trip up to Steamer Hill to open up the camper for the season, and just a few weeks ago we closed it up until next year. Here's a quick recap of what I did this summer, for anyone who cares. We had 8 weekends of steam related activities (including one this coming weekend) to attend. Many were for Rollag, and a few other shows to...

What is this Rollag thing

[caption id="attachment_623" align="aligncenter" width="447" caption="Photo by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] If anyone has followed me on Facebook, Twitter, read the most boring crap in the Internet, (otherwise known as this blog) or talked to me in person, you would have picked up some mention of the Rollag thing I attend every year and am overly obsessed with. What Is It? Rollag is the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. It was started back in 1954 and has been going on...

Photography ~ As If I Need More Projects

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Photograph by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] Many of you know I've dabbled in photography for a number of years. I've done portrait sittings for local Real Estate groups, parties for the Yacht Club, MLS photography via Obeo, and taken thousands of photos camping, outdoors and at Rollag. I've started to collect a number of good photos that I'd like to put a price on, either for a digital copy, or by print or framed...

Head for the Hill

[caption id="attachment_561" align="alignnone" width="448" caption="Photo by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] It's that time again, a little earlier than normal to head up to Rollag. Due to some warmer weather, and an Expo meeting that is at the Hill this weekend, it seems like a great opportunity to open up the camper, get some work done, and hang out with some of the Rollag crew. So we may have limited access to power and water, oh well.. Camper has...

Florida Time!

Aah yes, the time has come once again for the trip to Florida. 5 days in the sun, with some other Rollag Friends, and no work, snow or cold weather. My parents have been awesome and offered to watch the four-legged kids for the long weekend, which will be GREAT. Recalling from last year, flying your pet with you, is almost as expensive as flying yourself, and you have to ensure there is...

FarmVille ~ Time for greener pastures

[caption id="attachment_526" align="alignnone" width="480" caption="Tim\'s Farm on Zynga\'s Farmville"][/caption] OK – So, if you’re on Facebook, you’ve probably had at least 1, if not 1,000 invites from your friends to play FarmVille, no need to be ashamed. I was sucked into the game last summer, and found myself spending more time than I should have been spending, plowing, planting, milking etc.. It wasn’t so bad, because you could plunk away at it while you...

2009 MS-150 Bike Tour

[caption id="attachment_416" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Photo by Jim Scott"][/caption] Once again, this past June, I loaded up my bike, packed a backpack and trekked north to Proctor, MN for the MS-150 bike tour, just as I have done for the last 14 or 15 years if I'm correct, pretty much, since I've been able to drive. This year, the tour started in Nowthen, MN at the Nowthen Threshing Showgrounds so I was already a little excited to see...

Cantina #1 – Bloomington, MN

[caption id="attachment_402" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Photo by Tim Dachtera"][/caption] After spending a few previous outings with our friends Vicki and Justin, Eileen and I decided to invite them out to a non-stressful/athletic night. - (past events of ours have included sandbagging in Fargo, moving, and Wii boxing) Last time we were at MOA, I had noticed signs all over for a place called Cantina #1, and figured it was a typical Corona bar tucked up in one...
